We make a textile passport cover. Passport cover in scrapbooking style

As a basis, we will need two side parts of the cover and the middle spine. Because the cover, in my opinion, should not be very thick and heavy; for the side parts I use beer cardboard with a thickness of about 1–1.5 mm, and for the middle, thin cardboard or paper with a density of 200–250 g/m2. The sizes below are suitable for Russian passports :)

We cut out our base according to the specified dimensions:

On the cardboard spine in the middle we apply scoring lines at a distance of 1 cm from each other, and between them we make scoring several more times, this will allow the spine to bend well.

To make the cover softer, I covered the side cardboards with a layer of white fleece. And then I glued them to the middle, retreating 5 mm from the left and right fold lines. To create neat fold lines quickly and clearly, I use a Scor-It-All scoring board. But they can also be applied using a ruler and a non-writing pen or knitting needle :)

I suggest installing magnets into our cover - it will close very nicely and will not open on its own without a little effort. I cut these holes on the inside of our workpiece to the size of the magnet. But the cardboard is not cut through all the way through, but only its layer is removed.

Using Super Moment Gel glue I glue the magnets. At this step, you must check which side of the magnet is glued to its pair, so that the two sides of the cover attract each other and do not repel each other.

Now you can start wrapping the workpiece with fabric. It is better to choose a fabric that is quite thin (patchwork fabrics are ideal) and with a small pattern, because... the finished product itself is quite small. Cut out a piece of fabric, leaving 1.5 cm along the edges of the workpiece.

I advise you to iron and starch the fabric well, and in some cases even place it on a layer of non-woven fabric in those parts where the sides of the piece to be glued will be located.

Next, using glue a la PVA (I use the proven Korfix), we glue the upper and lower free parts of the fabric to the workpiece. It is advisable to apply the glue in a very thin layer, then it will not bleed through the fabric, but will simply fix it securely.

Now our task is to make neat corners. There are many ways, but I like the one shown below the most. First, iron the fabric like this:

Then this way:

We do the same with the top corner, and glue the side of the fabric to the cardboard base.

We do the same with the left side. It turns out something similar to a cute passport cover:

When we insert the document into the cover, the middle will not be visible. But the products must be beautiful both outside and inside, so I also cover the middle with a strip of fabric. The strip is cut out the same height as our cover (13.5 cm), and about 5 cm in width.

Iron the top and bottom raw edges to the wrong side, approximately 5 mm.

And glue the prepared strip in the middle on the inside of the cover.

It should look something like this:

Now let's make paper endpapers inside with sides for the passport crust. I used scrapbooking paper, but plain thick colored paper will work here too. We cut out the endpapers themselves - 2 pieces of paper measuring 8.2x12.8 cm. And also strips of paper for the side holders - 5x15 cm.

On the side pockets along the long side we make a fold line at a distance of 1 cm from the edge, and at the top and bottom we try it on the previously cut paper, leave a margin of 1 mm and make a big one. It is better to cut the corners after this.

Now we create folds along the creasing lines and glue the pockets to our side parts:

We try it on the cover - everything is fine.

I lightly tint the edges of the paper with distress ink. This is not at all in order to give the effect of antiquity; more often, such tinting simply gives the paper a finished look. If you take a closer look at the finished sheets of paper for scrapbooking, you will often notice that it has a slight tinting effect around the perimeter. The main thing here is not to overdo it :)

Now you can get creative and decorate your future cover. When decorating a passport cover, I advise you to pay attention to elements that in ordinary life seem very small to us. Because the product is small, then often 2-centimeter lace, for example, looks bulky. Endpapers can also be decorated with stamps, embossing, spray painting or machine stitching.

All that remains is to glue the side parts to the cover. I switched to UHU glue, in this work I used Twist & Glue. You can use Moment Crystal the old fashioned way, but over time I have developed unpleasant sensations associated with its pungent smell. When gluing the side pieces, I try to make sure that the distance at the top, bottom and the side that goes right through is approximately the same.

This is the cover I came up with:

We try on the passport - everything is fine. Usually the cover fits well according to the given dimensions. But we can always make a mistake somewhere, so if you are making a cover for the first time, it is better to try it on the passport throughout the entire work on it.

Well, all that remains is to make her pose. It always seems to me that handmade things, when they are photographed with love and are going to be worn and cherished, smile at the camera :)

Passport- a document that we have to carry with us almost all the time. It is precisely because it is always at hand that its appearance deteriorates. In a few years, our passport may look like a rag, unless, of course, this is prevented. How to do it? - you ask! There is an answer - you need a cover. The cover of the passport almost does not lose its beautiful appearance. And today we will show you how you can make a beautiful cover for your passport!

How to make a passport cover with your own hands?

To make a beautiful cover you will have to work hard, and also prepare the following materials:

Fleece
. Thick cotton
. Thick paper
. Button
. Rubber
. Scrapbooking paper

And also some tools:

Scissors
. Stationery glue
. Super glue
. Sewing machine
. Iron

Let's start creating the cover!

1. We take prepared thick cardboard and scrapbooking paper and cut out the blanks we need from them. The size of the blanks is as follows: from plain paper you need to make 3 rectangles, 20x13.5 cm, and two measuring 13.5x5 cm. And we make almost the same paper for scrapbooking, only we reduce each side by 0.5 cm.

2. We take a blank made of simple cardboard and glue it onto the fleece using office glue. Then we cut out a fleece shape exactly according to the size of the paper.

3. We transfer the resulting blanks onto cotton fabric for the cover, then cut out slightly larger rectangles from it, departing 0.5 cm from the edges of the blanks.

4. Now we need to glue these two parts together. To do this, take glue and glue the long sides first.

To make everything work out beautifully, after the long sides you need to glue the corners.

And then we glue the remaining sides. And this is what we have:

5. We begin gluing the remaining, smaller pieces in the same way.

6. To prevent the passport from opening on its own, we decided to make a cover with a button, and to do this we sew it on the front side of a large blank. The button should be in the middle of the smaller side.

7. On the opposite side, from the back, we sew a piece of elastic, with which the cover will be closed. We fix it with super glue.

8. Now we return to the scrapbooking paper, and it should be glued to the inside of the future cover. We attach it with glue and give it time to dry.

9. We do the same actions with smaller rectangles. Glue scrapbooking paper onto the blanks.

10. Now let's move on to working with the sewing machine. We need to take smaller rectangles and sew them on one side, the one that is longer. We perform this operation with two parts.

11. There is very little left, we take and apply the smaller rectangles to the larger one, thereby creating a cover for the passport. Moreover, the smaller rectangles should lie with the stitched part towards the middle.

PVA glue and glue stick;

Ink pad and stamps;

Threads and sewing machine;

Ribbon-lace, half beads;

Acrylic paint and glitter.

We take thick paper, which we will use as a base. We trace the passport and cut it out. Using a ruler, find the middle and bend it in half.

Cut out the front and back from designer paper. I have three pieces because I will be using two for the front side.

We cut the third rectangle according to the drawing and try it on the main paper.

Using a stamp pad we tint all the edges.

We stamp the corners of the cover.

We select additional pieces of paper for decoration, print out the inscription “Passport” on the printer (if there is no stamp, like mine))). We tint the edges.

We glue the inscription with glue stick onto thick paper, like the base. We cut it evenly and tint it again.

Glue the pieces, the inscription and the lace.

From the same thick paper we cut out curls with scissors (or, if you have them, cut them out on a big shot) and tint them.

Partially glue, take all the blanks, fold them and go to the sewing machine.

We stitch along the edge, maybe several times (I stitched it twice). If the sewing machine allows, we make decorative seams as desired.

This is how we get the face and back of the cover.

Glue the remaining curls and tint them to your taste.

Using a thin brush, lightly apply gold-colored acrylic paint.

We also randomly add glitter. Glue the half beads.

We give all the beauty to dry thoroughly and put it in a transparent cover so that it is better preserved during use. All is ready!

Every person should have things that are very personal and necessary. Such things include a passport. This document occupies an important place in people's lives, every person carries it with him. To keep a paper item intact, a cover is needed. But I want not a simple one, but an original one. Therefore, a handmade passport cover will be a good option for an original gift to a loved one, especially if it is made of leather.

For such work you only need a sewing machine and a bright mind. Even with the help of such a machine, you can make embroidery on the skin, it turns out interesting. The main thing is to get excited about the idea of bringing such a product to life.

DIY passport cover technique

To work, you must first download the passport template, take the skin, awl, knife and ruler.

Trace the downloaded template onto the leather and make holes.

Cut out the drawn blank. Use an awl to make holes on the workpiece.

Apply conditioner to the skin and wipe off excess.

Carefully sew all the pieces together. Cut the thread and arrange everything into cells.

The stylish cover for the main document is ready!

Making a fashionable passport cover

A very interesting type of work using the scrapbooking technique. This cover looks very rich and interesting. A master class is offered to needlewomen, thanks to which we will be able to make a passport cover, also with our own hands, using the scrapbooking technique. You don't need any special materials for this work.

Prepare paper, a translucent cover, a white cardboard cutout, half pearls, hydrangea flowers, the printed word passport, glue, and a ruler.

First, measure the cover and, based on the measurements, cut out a rectangle from paper with the required parameters. Fold the rectangle in half.

Treat a five-centimeter strip of pearlescent paper with a composter. If you don't have one, you can use curly scissors. Cut off the desired piece. Fold the strip in half, the fold line should be clear. Glue double-sided tape inside and stick to the base.

Decorate the top. The details need to be thought out so that later all the beauty fits into the transparent cover and does not stick out. Cut out the word passport from a separate piece of paper. The word itself does not have to be printed; you can use a stamp. It is sold in specialized scrapbooking departments. Treat the edges of the rectangle with special ink and allow time to dry.

Secure the workpiece to the base. Spread a white cardboard cutout with glue and secure it in the bottom right corner.

Plant a blue flower on top and a white flower blank on top of it.

Decorate everything with half-pearls: attach the first one to the middle of the flower, the rest in a frame with the word passport.

Insert the entire finished craft into a transparent cover and you can show off the original cover.

Fabric case as a gift for those closest to you

This gift option is suitable for men. It is very difficult to surprise them with anything, but a passport cover made from fabric with your own hands is perfect as a gift for representatives of the stronger half. Such a simple thing will always remind you of a loved one.

For this craft, you need to prepare a piece of silk, dublerin, lining fabric, matches or a lighter, bias tape, rhinestones and a transparent cover.

Create a pattern for a passport from the diagram. The allowances should be about a centimeter. The dimensions of the product are thirty-five and a half by sixteen centimeters. Cut a blank from dublerin without allowances measuring thirty-five and a half by fourteen centimeters, and from the lining nineteen and a half by sixteen centimeters.

Using an iron, glue the underside of the silk with dublerin in the steam mode. It is better to stitch the edges of natural silk rather than burn it. Place the base and lining face down. Sew the pieces along the horizontal side. It is necessary to retreat from the very edge about a centimeter. Fold the vertical edges in and stitch along the front side. Turn the workpiece inside out, sweep and iron.

Now fold the base over the cover, bending it back about eight centimeters. Align the edges horizontally and baste, you need to stitch from the face. Hide the threads inside. It will be beautiful to decorate the top of the cover with rhinestones and glue. They need to be laid down and ironed with a hot iron. Just work through the fabric. Be sure to trim the edges with bias tape. It will give the work a finished look and decorate the product. Its color should match the color of the main fabric.

The decor can be used not only to decorate various boxes, jars, cards, and albums. More serious things, such as a passport, can also be decorated. Of course, you don’t need to decorate the passport itself, but make a beautiful cover for it.

DIY passport cover using scrapbooking technique

So let's get started.

What is necessary

Thick paper for scrapbooking in two sizes: 14.8? 12.7 cm and 6? 16.7 cm (if not, you can replace watercolor paper or cardboard;

  • Office white paper;
  • Hole puncher;
  • Decorations;
  • Scissors;
  • Ruler;
  • Paper glue;
  • Double sided tape.

Step-by-step MK with photos

Make a crease, retreating 3 cm from each edge of the rectangle and in the middle of the cardboard. Fold the paper. Take the second rectangle and cut it into two equal strips in half.

Use a hole punch to make lacy edges on white office paper. Bend the rectangular strips at a distance of 2 cm on both sides from the bottom and top edges. Then glue the openwork edges to the middle of the strips.

Glue the prepared strips onto a large rectangle of cardboard. Now you can insert your passport into the cover and see how it looks.

All that remains is to decorate the cover. It is better to choose flat decorations so that they fit tightly to the cover and do not get caught on anything. Glue, for example, this flower and halves of pearls. If the passport is opened in this cover, then you can glue a satin ribbon to tie the passport.

That's it, the cover is ready!

DIY passport cover made of leather

Leather passport covers have become very popular among needlewomen. Genuine leather and manual labor are used in production, which means it is not cheap.

But it’s not at all difficult to make, but just such a passport cover made of leather with your own hands will definitely be in a single copy.

What is necessary

  • Leather;
  • Hole punch for leather;
  • Glue;
  • Awl or thin screwdriver;
  • Ruler;
  • Chalk or pen.

Description of the work step by step

Cut the cardboard (19 x 14 cm) to the size of your passport. Place it on the skin and cut it out.

You can combine 2 leather colors, to do this, cut off a strip of any shape from the main color and cut off exactly the same strip of a different color along it.

It is very difficult to glue two pieces of leather together, so we will fasten them using holes. And so that when piercing the pieces of skin do not fall apart in your hands, you need to glue them together with paper tape.

Mark along the entire contour of the cover the places where you need to make holes. It is better to take the distance between them at 7 mm, and make the stitching width about 3 mm. Now you need to make holes in the designated places.

Cut out the sides into which you will need to insert the passport. To do this, attach the cover and circle its edges, cut out 2 sides, trim the bumps. Glue them to the main piece of leather. Important! So that when braiding the corners do not bend, you need to glue additional pieces of leather between the side and the main piece on the corners.

Cut strips 3 mm wide from a long piece of leather. If the length of one strip was not enough to make a braid, then other strips can be glued to it.

During braiding, you need to be careful not to skip holes and not tighten the tape tightly, but you don’t need to leave free space either. That's it, the cover is ready! You can leave it like this, or you can decorate it in any way you like.

Fabric cover

Each person has a passport and in order for it to be neat, he definitely needs a cover. There are a huge number of ordinary conveyor covers, but a do-it-yourself passport cover made of fabric will definitely highlight the document.

What is necessary

All dimensions are in inches, 1 in = 2.54 cm.

  • Fabric A for 1 cover size 8? 6 d;
  • Fabric B for 2 covers, size 1.25? at 6 d;
  • Fabric C for 1 pocket size 8.75? 10 d;
  • Fabric D for lining size 8.75? 6 d;
  • Fabric E for 2 pockets size 8.75? 5.5 d;
  • Fabric F for 1 interface size 8.25? 4.75 d;
  • Fabric G for 2 interfaces size 825? 5.5 d;
  • Fabric H for 3 interface size 8.25? 2.5 d;
  • Fabric initial;
  • Button;
  • Rubberized lace.

Description of work with photos

First sew the fabric for the interface and pockets as shown in the photo. 0.25 d should remain from each edge. If you want to use initials, then you can sew them anywhere.

Sew along the right side of fabric A and B. The seam should be open, and the piece AB should be 8.75? 6 d.

Sew fabrics C and E from the top edges as in the photo.

Fold layers of fabric AB, D, C, E as in the photo. You need to make sure that the edges of pieces C, D and E are aligned.

Now you need to sew all the layers together. You need to sew along the green stripe, which is shown in the photo. Bend the segment AB and sew a button on the front side.

Stitch the layers of fabric around the perimeter (do not forget to sew on the lace), leaving a hole 3 d long, turn the product through the hole and sew it up.

Gently fold the product and mark a line that runs through the center of the cover. The cover is ready!
