DIY mammoth craft easy. How to make a mammoth from plasticine with your own hands step by step

Try to cut down a mammoth like this.

The work is difficult.

Your loved ones will surely like this craft by placing it in a visible place, for example, on a shelf. To make this craft you will need the following:

Sawing tools.

Preparing your desktop

First of all, you need to prepare your table on which you will work. It should not have unnecessary things and every tool should be at hand. Not everyone has their own desktop and has probably already thought about creating one. Making a table is not difficult, but choosing a place for it in the house is difficult. The ideal option is a warmed balcony, where you can do crafts at any time. I already wrote about table preparation in a separate article and tried to describe the whole process of its creation in as much detail as possible. If you don't know how to prepare your workplace, then read the following Article. After you have completed the process of creating a table, try to start choosing your future craft.

We choose quality material

The main material is plywood. The choice is always difficult. Each of us must have faced such a problem as delamination of plywood from the end part and asked such a question, why such delamination? Well, of course, this is mainly due to low-quality plywood. If this is not the first time you have picked up a jigsaw, then you can select plywood from the remnants of a previous craft. If you are new to sawing and you don’t have plywood, then buy it at a hardware store. Choosing material for sawing is always difficult. You should always choose plywood carefully, often look at the defects of the wood (knots, cracks) and draw conclusions. The difficulty in choosing plywood lies in the fact that no matter how you guess at its defects and shelf life. For example, you bought plywood, cleaned it, translated the drawing and suddenly it began to delaminate. Of course, this has happened to almost everyone and it’s oh, how unpleasant. So it is better to pay attention when choosing and choose good plywood. I wrote a special Article in which all the principles of choosing plywood are described step by step.

Stripping plywood

We clean our plywood with sandpaper. As you already know, “Medium-grained” and “Fine-grained” sandpaper is used for cleaning plywood during cutting. You've probably seen sandpaper in hardware stores, and that's what we'll need. In your work you will need “Coarse-grained”, “Medium-grained” and “Fine-grained” sandpaper. Each of them has its own property, but a completely different coating, by which it is classified. “Coarse-grained” sandpaper is used for processing rough plywood, i.e. which has many defects, chips, and cracks.
“Medium-grained” sandpaper is used for processing plywood after “Coarse” sandpaper and has a slight coating. “Fine-grained” or otherwise “Nulevka”. This sandpaper serves as the final process for stripping plywood. It gives the plywood smoothness, and therefore the plywood will be pleasant to the touch. Sand the prepared plywood in stages, starting with medium-grain sandpaper and ending with fine sandpaper. Sanding should be done along the layers, not across. A well-polished surface should be flat, completely smooth, glossy in the light and silky to the touch. How best to prepare plywood for sawing and which sandpaper is best to choose Read here. After stripping, check the plywood for burrs and small irregularities. If there are no visible defects, then you can proceed to the process of translating the drawing.

Translation of the drawing

For me, drawing translation has always been the main process in my work. I will tell you a couple of rules, as well as tips for high-quality translation of a drawing. Many people transfer the drawing onto plywood not only using a pencil and copying, but also using “Black Tape”, glue the drawing to the plywood, then wash off the drawing with water and the markings of the drawing remain on the plywood. In general, there are many ways, but I will tell you about the most common method. To transfer the drawing onto prepared plywood, you must use a copy, a ruler, a sharp pencil and a non-writing pen. Fasten the drawing in plywood using buttons or simply hold it with your left hand. Check if the drawing fits the dimensions. Arrange the clock drawing so that you can use a sheet of plywood as economically as possible. Translate the drawing with a non-writing pen and ruler. There is no need to rush, because your future craft depends on the drawing.

Drilling holes in the parts

As you have already noticed, the parts contain parts of the grooves that need to be cut out from the inside. To cut out such parts, you need to drill holes in them using a hand drill or, as in the old fashioned way, make holes with an awl. By the way, the diameter of the hole must be at least 1 mm, otherwise you can damage the elements of the drawing, which, alas, are sometimes difficult to restore. To avoid damaging your work table when drilling holes, you must place a board under the workpiece so as not to damage the work table. It is always difficult to drill holes alone, so ask a friend to help you in your task.

Sawing parts

There are many rules for cutting, but you need to stick to the most common ones. First of all, you need to cut out the internal parts, only then according to the external pattern. There is no need to rush when cutting. The main thing is to always keep the jigsaw straight at a 90-degree angle when cutting. Cut out the parts along the lines you precisely marked. The movements of the jigsaw should always be smooth up and down. Also, do not forget to monitor your posture. Try to avoid bevels and unevenness. If you go off the line while cutting, don't worry. Such bevels, irregularities can be removed with flat files or “Coarse-grained” sandpaper.

Rest

When sawing, we often get tired. Fingers and eyes, which are always tense, often get tired. When working, of course, everyone gets tired. In order to reduce the load, you need to do a couple of exercises. You can view the exercises here. Do the exercises several times during work.

Cleaning Parts

You should always clean the parts of a future craft carefully. At the very beginning of the work, you already sanded the plywood with sandpaper. Now you have to do a small part of stripping the plywood. Using medium-grain sandpaper, sand the edges of the parts and the back of the plywood. “Fine-grained” sandpaper is considered the final stage of cleaning parts. It is better to clean the front part of the parts with fine sandpaper. When processing plywood, take your time. You can also use a rounded file, with which it is convenient to clean the inside of the holes. Try to ensure that the parts come out without burrs or irregularities.

Assembly of parts

Assembling the details of our crafts here is not so difficult. In order to correctly assemble the parts, you need to read the following Article, which describes in detail all the details of the assembly. After the parts are assembled into one common craft without any problems, then start gluing them.

Gluing the parts

It is necessary to glue the parts of the shelf with PVA or titan glue. You don't need to pour a lot of glue. It is better to tie the assembled craft with glue with a strong thread, tighten it and lay it out to dry. The craft sticks together for about 10-15 minutes.

Burning out crafts

To decorate our craft with a pattern (for example, along the edges of the craft), you will need an electric burner. Beautifully burn out the pattern can be very difficult. To burn out patterns, you must first draw a pattern with a pencil. You can read how to work with an electric burner and add patterns to a shelf here.

Varnishing crafts

If desired, you can transform our craft by covering it with Wood Varnish, preferably colorless. Read how best to varnish a craft. Try to choose a quality varnish. Varnishing is carried out using a special brush “For glue”. Take your time. Try not to leave visible marks or scratches on the craft.

Any child is deeply touched by a cartoon about a little mammoth who slept for a long time, then woke up and did not find his beloved mother. Even adults feel a little sad when, together with their children, they watch the fascinating story of an unusual child. But the joyful end of an amazing fairy tale inspires. To enhance the feeling of euphoria, invite your child to make a little mammoth from plasticine. Don’t doubt that everything will work out for you, because a baby mammoth is the same as a baby elephant, only in a fur coat. That’s why you should sculpt a shaggy elephant calf. If you have already bought colorful plasticine and watched the cartoon, then it’s time to get to work. All the necessary information on how to make a baby mammoth from plasticine is given below.

When choosing plasticine, remember that the brown color will be used most to create a baby mammoth. In addition, you will need two shades of brown, so you may have to create a lighter shade yourself by mixing suitable colors if beige is not available.

The initial stage is modeling a brown ball. Next, lightly squeeze the piece to make it flatter.

Press one side of the brown mass onto the modeling board. This is where the legs will be attached in the future.

Cover the entire circumference of the rounded piece with a stack to create the illusion of an animal's shaggy fur coat.

To sculpt four legs, prepare beige balls or use light brown plasticine for this.

Turn each ball into a tube, then insert a match into the top for future fastening. Stack notches at the ends and attach dark brown circles to the center.

Put the cartoon on its feet, sticking the ends of the matches into the flat part of the fur coat.

From the same light plasticine, blind a small tail.

Attach this piece to the back.

Starting to create a head, roll up a beige ball. Stick on big blue eyes.

Place bumps under the eyes - these will be the cheeks of the smiling character.

Attach a long trunk to the central part of the face.

To make big ears, combine beige and orange cakes.

Attach the ears into place.

Connect the head to the main workpiece by first inserting a match into the plasticine.

And the last detail of the appearance of the brave little hero is his thick forelock. Make it from short sausages.

A baby mammoth made of plasticine is ready to go in search of his mother on an ice floe. After such a fascinating lesson, the child will definitely want to make big elephants for his parents’ crafts.

print Thanks, great lesson +17

Mammoths lived on planet Earth many, many years ago; today such a representative of the fauna cannot be found on any continent. However, all children know what these huge animals looked like. And all thanks to elephants, which are direct descendants of mammoths.

In this modeling lesson, we will mold together with you a mammoth from plasticine. It should look like an elephant - a mammoth has the same huge size, has a long nose-trunk and fangs-tusks. However, the mammoth's body is covered with thick hair, its ears are not as large as those of a modern elephant, and its clicks are longer.

Step-by-step photo lesson:

If we sculpted an elephant from gray plasticine, then brown plasticine is more suitable for creating a mammoth. Take this particular block from the set.

Immediately make a large rounded body, prepare four balls for the legs. And don't forget to leave brown plates for the head, trunk and tail.

Attach the tube legs. The rear ones should be slightly shorter than the front ones. The mammoth should sort of sit down a little.

Add a head, preferably on a match.

Attach a long brown hose in front. Disguise the junction of the head and body behind a convex hump.

Place a cake on your head and make thick brown eyebrows; basic plasticine or a lighter one is suitable for this. Stack them to make them furry.

Continue working with the stack, turning the mammoth skin into a thick, warm coat.

Make a ponytail at the back.

Attach beige fangs in front; they should be narrow, long and curved upward.

Attach small ear cakes to the head and also treat them with a stack so that they do not stand out against the general background.

A large and formidable plasticine mammoth is ready. Now you know not only how to make an elephant, but also a mammoth.

The cute baby mammoth from the cartoon, who sang the well-known song “To the only mother in the world,” may well become a decoration for a birthday cake. Today we will look at two options for creating a baby mammoth - a master class on modeling from mastic and a tutorial on decorating a cream cake.

In the first case, the cake can be absolutely anything; we will decorate its upper part with a mastic baby mammoth, and in the second version, the cake itself is the silhouette of a little cartoon character. What your birthday boy will like best is up to you to decide.

For this master class you will need sugar mastic in light yellow, brown, orange, blue, as well as black and white food coloring and a little patience. We will carry out almost the entire creation process with our hands, to help you - a sharp knife and several stacks, as well as a thin brush or a pastry felt-tip pen.

The figurine creation process

Before you start sculpting the figurine, you need to make sugar mastic, paint part of it in colors corresponding to the color of the baby mammoth, lay out pieces of mastic and tools on the table. And now we can begin the process of creating according to MK:

  1. Roll 4 cylinders from light yellow mastic, make indentations in the lower part with a knife - these will be the legs.
  2. Make a small ball of mastic, cut it in half and glue it to the bottom of each leg - you get marigolds.
  3. Use a ball of dark brown fondant to create knees in the center of the legs.
  4. Then, from a mass of the same color, form the rounded body of a baby mammoth.
  5. Now you need to attach the legs to the body. To do this, insert a toothpick in the upper part of each leg directly in the center of the cylinders. Then use these toothpicks to attach them to the legs from the bottom to the ball body. Make sure that the legs are attached at the same distance from each other. Grind the place of adhesion of the legs and body and level with a stack.

  1. Now roll out the orange mastic into a long narrow layer, using a sharp knife on one side, make many small cuts that will imitate the wool of a baby mammoth. Animal fur can also be made using numerous small drops of mastic, which will need to be thinned at the top. Such a droplet is glued to the lower surface of the baby mammoth’s body.
  2. At the top of the baby mammoth's body, make many cuts using a sharp stick to form a relief of the fur. Make sure that the fur completely covers the junction of the legs and the body. You need to do everything quickly before the mastic hardens.
  3. Make a small sharp tail and line the junction with a stack.

  1. Form the baby mammoth's head together with its trunk from light yellow mastic, make indentations for the eyes, form a mouth, and use a stack to make longitudinal cuts on the trunk.
  2. Create the eyes from two drops of white mastic, attach two blue balls of smaller diameter on top - you get a pupil. Put small black balls on top. Shade the blue pupil with blue gel dye. On top of the black pupil, make highlights with white paint.
  3. Use a dye or a food marker to draw eyebrows.
  4. Make large ears from yellow mastic, attach them to both sides of the head and press firmly.
  5. Draw a blush on the cheeks with pink powder. On top of the head, place droplets of brown mastic - bangs. On it, make incisions that imitate wool.

Our figure is completely ready. The baby mammoth from the cartoon “To the Only Mother in the World” holds a red rose in its trunk - we form the bud and leaf from mastic, bend the end of the trunk a little inward so that the flower does not fall out.

Cake "Mammoth" from butter cream

Making a cake in the shape of a baby mammoth from cream is somewhat easier if you know how to decorate confectionery products using cream and a pastry bag. In this MK you will need thick butter cream of 3 colors - coffee, dark brown and white. If you additionally decorate the figurine with a rose, you will also need red and green cream.

Let's master this MK:

  1. Bake the biscuit cake in two semi-circular shapes (like bowls). One of the molds should be slightly larger in diameter. You will also need another cake of dough of any shape for the ears and trunk. Prepare the cream in advance and color it in the desired colors.
  2. Place the body and head of semicircular sponge cakes on the base, coat them inside with cream and soak them in syrup if desired.
  3. Place the dark brown cream into a bag, put on the embossed nozzle and make an imitation of wool on the mammoth’s body. To do this, you need to do a lot of vertical pressure on the bag. Cover the animal's head with cream, making long thin stripes.
  4. Now attach two semicircular small cakes to the sides of the head, which will imitate ears. Cover them with cream as well as your entire head. Make a trunk from the dough at the front, covered with cream.
  5. Use dark brown cream to create bangs on the top of your head.
  6. Melt the chocolate, pour eyes with eyelashes and eyebrows onto parchment. When they harden, carefully transfer them to the figure's face. You can also use chocolate to make stripes on the trunk and outlines for the ears.
  7. If desired, you can place a cream rose with leaves in the trunk. Make a “clearing” of small droplets of white cream around the body and head of the baby mammoth.

This MK is somewhat simpler, but it will also require skill and patience. But in any case, such a cake will certainly please the birthday boy and his little guests.

If you, together with us, have learned how to sculpt an elephant from plasticine, then it's time to slightly complicate the task and move on to sculpting a mammoth. Although you shouldn’t think that making this ancient animal is much more difficult. A mammoth is the same as an elephant, but its body is covered with thick hair. To sculpt this huge creature, it is best to use brown plasticine. So, when modeling a mammoth, as well as when modeling an elephant, it is necessary to show a long trunk and huge tusks. So be sure to get to work, guided by our photo instructions.

1. Soften the brown pieces of plasticine and roll a ball from one, a long sausage from the other.

2. Stick the sausage on the ball, you should get the basis for the head of a mammoth with a long trunk.

3. The nose-process can be bent at your discretion. It is best to lower it down and bend it back.

4. Place shoots for the tusks on the sides of the trunk. All details must be done in the same color scheme.

5. To create the eyes, make small holes on the animal's face. Insert small crumbs of white and black plasticine into the resulting holes. Attach oval ears. Remember that mammoths have very small ears compared to elephants. Insert the tusks into the previously prepared processes, it is advisable to use ivory plasticine for this. It can be obtained by mixing a drop of brown with white.

7. Connect the two parts.

8. Mash four pieces to sculpt the legs and roll into balls.

9. You can easily get thick legs from the balls by pressing and swinging the plates in different directions.

10. Connect the legs to the body, and attach a neat ponytail at the back.

11. The animal is already ready. But for now, it's more of an elephant than a mammoth. Create a fur outfit using a stack, pressing many small grooves along the entire surface of the back and crown.

Here is such a prehistoric animal turned out. Now be sure to tell your child the history of the development of human civilization and the important role that mammoths played in it.
